Many of our clients ask the question, how to start work on creating a company website? We would like to present in a few steps what this process looks like in G2 TEAM. In the article, we will describe the stages of work on a web design company for a small or medium company.

At the beginning it should be noted that a good website is an investment that pays off quickly. Having experience gained while working on creating about 300 websites, for clients from various industries, we have examples of many companies that have completely changed their market position and increased revenues by investing in marketing on the Internet.

That is why it is so important for the client from the beginning to understand that working on a website is a profitable investment and to prepare a number of basic information for the agency that implements the website and at the same time cooperates at every stage of the website implementation.

Ad 1. Research

Research is designed to provide information about the company, services and products, business environment, competition, goals set for the company.

Basic questions that we ask our clients:

1. What does the company do, what is its experience, products, strengths, and weaknesses?

Our clients provide us with a full picture of the situation, so we can prepare a marketing message tailored to the client’s offer and market requirements.

2. Who is the company’s competition?

We analyze direct competitors, their products, and the industry. We define leaders and check how they use e-marketing tools. We analyze content on websites, paid forms of advertising, social media, google positions and quality of linking profile & quality of SEO activities, on the basis of which we can determine the difficulty and time needed to reach the top position in the Google ranking.

3. What development plans does the company have in the coming years?

We try to find out how the company wants to develop in the short and long term. We analyze the factors that will be necessary to achieve development and the threats that may arise during development.

At the research stage, we collect materials from the company, such as current visual identification, list and characteristics of products and services, information about the company and milestones in the history of functioning.

Ad 2. Defining the target group and business environment

Together with the client, we analyze who his competition is and how the business environment affects the development opportunities of the project. Analyzing the competition, we obtain information from the client and we also carry out a number of analyzes, including analysis of Google and Google AdWords search results, and activities in Social Media. When preparing a competition statement, we prepare an analysis of the data obtained, estimate website traffic, check the positioning method, and use of paid advertising forms. Thanks to this, we are able to outline to the client what advertising budget will have to allocate to get results similar or better than the competition.

Ad 3. Development of the acquired material

We archive the collected information and analyzes in the Basecamp CRM system and in popular internet disks such as Google Drive or Dropbox. In addition, we prepare a work schedule and prepare a list of tasks for each stage of the order. Our copywriters analyze acquired texts and, if necessary, develop more extensive and professional versions.

Ad 4.   Preparation of the website mock-up

A good website design needs a foundation on which to build. Designer UX analysis, determining the required elements, designing information architecture is crucial for the final graphic design to meet its objectives. To create mock-ups, we use the following programs: Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, Axure, Balsamiq or Invision.

Ad 5. Preparation of graphic design

Web Designer, thanks to the materials developed in the previous steps, can prepare a perfect design from every angle. The graphic design made by us will fulfill its role in terms of aesthetic reception as well as achieving a specific business goal and high conversion. Graphic designs that we prepare are presented and consulted with a customer who has the opportunity to submit comments or ask questions to which we gladly answer.

Ad 6. Programming

At this stage, the completed graphic design is forwarded to the programmers department. The implementation is carried out using the latest solutions, libraries and technologies available at the time of work on the order. Depending on the complexity of the project and the challenges it faces, we select the appropriate CMS system and language. For company websites, we most often use HTML5 together with PHP and JavaScript. We use Github and related software.

The implementation stage is divided into two parts: front-end and back-end. Thanks to this, the customer can quickly see how the order will look in the browsers of computers and mobile devices. We are also implementing the RWD version so that the pages are adapted to the vast majority of mobile users and at the same time Google guidelines for mobile pages.

Ad 7. SEO optimization and tests

Our principle is that every project should meet business assumptions and bring measurable benefits to our clients. Based on many years of experience in the field of website optimization and positioning, we make appropriate adjustments to the pages we create. We develop, among others, appropriate Title and Meta tags, h1 and h2 tag hierarchy, alt parameters for images, we take care of the right amount of text in each tab, internal linking, creating a sitemap and adding a page in the Google Webmaster Tools panel. It is also crucial to check the speed of loading the website, testing it in various web browsers and on several mobile devices. Ad 8. Launching the website on the server

We transfer the ready, tested website from the working environment to the client-server. We make sure that the website is fully operational, we run the SSL certificate and perform appropriate tests to confirm the functionality. We also configure email accounts.

Ad 9. Implementation of e-marketing strategy

If the customer expresses interest in further e-marketing activities, we prepare and implement a strategy including website positioning, Google AdWords advertising, promotion in social media channels and word of mouth marketing. Ad 10. Monitoring, analysis, development

The preparation and launch of a website is just the beginning.
